Enose Lab Made with Vacuum Sampling: Quantitative Applications

چکیده

A lab-made electronic nose (Enose) with vacuum sampling and a sensor array, comprising nine metal oxide semiconductor Figaro gas sensors, was tested for the quantitative analysis of vapor–liquid equilibrium, described by Henry’s law, aqueous solutions organic compounds: three alcohols (i.e., methanol, ethanol, propanol) or chemical compounds different functional groups acetaldehyde, ethyl acetate). These followed fractional factorial design to guarantee orthogonal concentrations. Acceptable predictive ridge regression models were obtained training, RSEs lower than 7.9, R2 values greater 0.95, slopes varying between 0.84 1.00, intercept close theoretical value zero. Similar results test data set: 8.0, 0.96, 0.72 1.10, some intercepts equal In addition, total mass each solution could be predicted, pointing out that sensors measured mainly global contents vapor phases. The satisfactory allowed conclude Enose useful tool volatiles from containing which law is applicable.

Lab-on-a-chip device made by autohesion-bonded polymers

Polymers have the obvious advantages of flexibility in design and cost effectiveness to fabricate a lab-on-a-chip (LOC) device. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) in particular is very attractive choice as it adds biocompatibility in addition to the possibility of hematic sealing in a 3D design. Hereby, we extend our previous successful technology of autohesive hermetic bonding of medical implants i...

Direct sampling of electric-field vacuum fluctuations.

The ground state of quantum systems is characterized by zero-point motion. This motion, in the form of vacuum fluctuations, is generally considered to be an elusive phenomenon that manifests itself only indirectly. Here, we report direct detection of the vacuum fluctuations of electromagnetic radiation in free space. The ground-state electric-field variance is inversely proportional to the four...

Vacuum sampling in the landscape during inflation.

We consider the phenomenological consequences of sampling multiple vacua during inflation motivated by an enormous landscape. A generic consequence of this sampling is the formation of domain walls, characterized by the scale mu of the barriers that partition the accessed vacua. We find that the success of big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) implies mu > or = 10 TeV, as long as the sampled vacua hav...

Consistent Weighted Sampling Made More Practical

Min-Hash, which is widely used for efficiently estimating similarities of bag-of-words represented data, plays an increasingly important role in the era of big data. It has been extended to deal with real-value weighted sets – Improved Consistent Weighted Sampling (ICWS) is considered as the state-of-the-art for this problem. In this paper, we propose a Practical CWS (PCWS) algorithm. We first ...

Avian influenza. Surprising twist in debate over lab-made H5N1.

For the past several months, the media, the public, scientific groups, and a key U.S. government advisory panel on biosecurity have wrestled with how to deal with two unpublished studies they thought described the creation of a bird flu virus capable of triggering an influenza pandemic with the potential to kill millions of people. The New York Times even billed it as a doomsday virus. But now,...
